Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are successful in gaining muscle mass, you will also end up gaining weight as well.  Some women are naturally very slender and petit.  This doesn’t mean they aren’t strong, but maybe just wanting to look the part.  Here are a few tips on how you can add more muscle to your figure.  First, you should be consuming about 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh.  This will help your body build the muscle you are looking for.

Increase your calorie intake to ensure your body has enough fuel to burn, limit sugar, drink a lot of water and get plenty of rest.  To gain muscle, the major muscle groups need to be worked hard.  Do exercises to work your arms, shoulders, chest, back and legs.  You should lift as much weight as you can and do about 3-4 sets of 6-8 repetitions.  The more weight you lift, the more fatigued your muscles get.  This is important because in order to gain muscle, you must break down what you have so it can repair and grow stronger.  Workout 3-4 days a week and allow a day of rest between each workout.  Also, if you are wanting to gain weight, cardio exercises are not necessary because that will break down some of the muscle mass.
